Choosing a first aid trainer can feel like a big decision. Here’s why people love working with me:

First aid doesn’t have to be scary. My sessions are calm, friendly, and designed to reassure — not overwhelm.

As a former nurse and nurse educator, I bring practical insight into what actually works in emergencies — no fluff, just facts.

Forget jargon and boring slides. Training is hands-on, engaging, and focused on skills you’ll truly remember and use.

Whether it’s at your home, school, nursery or workplace — or a local public session — I offer accredited, recognised courses tailored to your setting.

Happy Hearts is just me, Sammy! You’ll always get a personal touch — from booking to follow-up, I’m here to help directly.

I’m Sammy – mum of three, former nurse, and the heart behind Happy Hearts First Aid.
After years of working in hospitals and teaching nurses, I saw how much calmer people felt when they were taught in a supportive, down-to-earth way. That’s what inspired me to create Happy Hearts: first aid that feels friendly, not frightening.

Yes, absolutely. Babies up to one year old are always welcome at our 2 hour parent sessions — I know childcare isn’t always easy to organise.
If none of the listed dates work, just drop me a message. I often add extra sessions or can arrange something bespoke for you or your group.
Not at all! My training is designed to be welcoming and easy to follow, whether you’re brand new to first aid or just need a refresher.
You’re always welcome to come back to another 2-hour session if you’d like a confidence boost. Lots of parents do this, especially as their children get older and different scenarios feel more relevant. (warning: I might still be using the same dad jokes!)
If you’d prefer something online, you can dip into my topic-based courses — like Choking or Febrile Seizures — to top up your knowledge in a quick and flexible way.
Drop me a message and I can recommend the best refresher option for you.
Absolutely. I run regular public sessions you can book onto as an individual.
Yes! I regularly deliver bespoke sessions for homeschool groups, school and nursery children, NCT groups, or any group of students, parents or carers who’d like to learn together. The content can be tailored to your needs, and I can come to your home, community space or chosen venue. Just get in touch to arrange a date that works for everyone.
Yes — I can deliver training at your place, or you can join a public course near you.
Yes, all my courses include clear, practical training on how and when to use a defibrillator (AED).
Completely! Lots of people worry about not knowing enough or getting things wrong. My sessions are calm, supportive and never put anyone on the spot. You’ll feel at ease straight away, and I’ll guide you step by step.
It depends on the type of course you’re attending. If you’re joining a 2-hour parent session, then no — you won’t be asked to do this. I’ll demonstrate rescue breaths and teach them in a way that helps you remember, but you’ll never be asked to do anything you’re not comfortable with.
For certified courses for schools, nurseries and workplaces, you will need to practise rescue breaths as part of your assessment. Don’t worry though — the manikins are cleaned thoroughly, and I provide single-use resuscitation shields to keep everything safe and hygienic. I’ll also be there to coach and guide you through it, so please don’t feel anxious about the assessment side of things.

Certified courses meet school, nursery and workplace first aid requirements and come with an accredited certificate. 2-hour sessions are shorter, friendly workshops — perfect for parents and carers who just want confidence without the paperwork.
No way. My sessions are hands-on and interactive — no “death by PowerPoint” here!
Refunds aren’t usually offered, but I’m happy to transfer your booking to another date if you let me know at least 72 hours before the session. If exceptional circumstances come up, please get in touch — I’ll always do my best to help.
